Whats the most important issue in your opinion and why?
Our dependence on oil has led to the drop in availability, a rise in price, and can be an example of how fast our economic recovery will go depending on our reliance to foreign oil. Approximately 1.088 million billion barrels are imported into canada of foreign oil a day when it could be invested on funds at home, which the economy depends way more on then cheap oil. This oil not only hurts the economy it makes global warming hit us faster then it should, while helping foreign oil companies at the same time. Climate change is a global concern, and by burning oil it creates one of the largest greenhouse gas emissions therefore being a big factor to climate change. This climate change creates more disasters which causes more spending on medical aid and can put the worlds poor at most risk while the richer countries are able to adapt to the natural disasters and climate change. Reducing oil dependency can help reduce the chances of climate change, and helping foreign oil companies which compete against our economy.
Like you said our dependance on oil is a large issue in the world and i think it can be tied to almost every world issue because it plays such a big role in our lives. We need to start making green energy sources more affordable so that it is available to more people, reducing the dependancy on oil.
