Blog Post 17: If you lived in America today, where would you be on the gun issue? Consider the 5th Amendment right to carry arms and discuss why you there should or should not be restrictions placed on gun ownership in America.

I believe the gun regulations are out of date, the fifth amendment was to keep the civilians safe from the British troops, but now theres no threat coming from Europe the gun law is seen as necessary to these people for all the wrong reasons. When you buy a gun it is for protection or sporting purposes, not to shoot innocent people, which is what gangs are doing. To make this amendment more to date I would make it so it is harder for people with mental illnesses and rap sheets. Not to segregate anyone but to keep the people safe in America because this issue isn’t getting any better. At the current rate, 339,000 Americans will die by guns over the next 10 years. That is roughly equivalent to the current population of Tampa, Florida. While the death tole racks up so does the gun ownership which to me is showing a clear fault in gun ownership regulations.
